ABOUT ME
My name is Meagan Danielle Downing. I have a bachelor's degree in journalism with a concentration in new media and photography and minor in sociology from Baylor University.
I was born and raised in the same small west Texas town where my family has lived for generations. It was at the local high school where I realized, through being on the yearbook staff that I actually wanted to have a career in design and photography.
Bucking the tradition of attending Texas Tech University, I headed to Baylor University to study journalism. While there I had the pleasure of working as a photographer for The Baylor Lariat, Baylor’s daily newspaper, and as the photo editor for Baylor’s yearbook the Round Up. Both publications and myself received many awards including having the Round Up awarded the honor of being the top yearbook in the country. Getting to work with these two publications was an amazing experience!
I have been covering sports since I was in junior high and I cannot stand sitting in the stands. If I do end up on the stands or my couch I spend most of the events watching the photographers. Getting to cover the Olympics would be a dream come true and getting to travel to other countries is just the icing on the cake.
I have an unending love for travel and have been very blessed to have the opportunity to do a lot of it. Australia, Europe, South Africa… I can never get enough and you better believe that going to all seven continents is on my bucket list.
I consider it a blessing that what I do and what I enjoy doing are one in the same. If design, travel, photography and writing are combined I am there.
